Title: Decimo Cerchio (L’Inferno 1911 O.S.T.)
Genre: Zeuhl, Rock in Opposition, Soundtrack Music
A futurist Dante Alighieri with the images of the first colossal in the history of Italian cinema, the silent film 'L'Inferno' of 1911, in a cine-concert with performance theatre interventions.
A performance set to music by performers Francesca Badalini, Luca Casiraghi, Andrea Grumelli and Claudio Milano.
A highly gothic and evocative composition rendered as a concept album, whose pauses seem to intimate something as bleak as the unknown.
An ultra-modern weaving but with the awareness and knowledge of ancient music, the mystery that is proper to ethnic rituals.
Such as to inflect contemporary classical idioms to extreme rock and Nordic ambient, electronics, fusion; musique concrète (or rather, teaser music holophony), to neo-romantic impulses dear to the soundtracks that have made the Italian tradition great (Francesca Badalini, pianist and composer of the project, was a pupil of Oscar winner Nicola Piovani).
A singularity and gloom that have only one precedent:
the most extreme Zeuhl and Rock in Opposition, as much as the records of Carmelo Bene and the more recent productions of Diamanda Galás, with the romantic oases to which the most angelic Peter Hammill has abandoned us.
Music with extreme attention to the sound of the mechanics of the instruments and to that of the recitation, now declaimed, now sung on several octaves, to become a tale of the misguided humanity of a hundred and more stories.
All this in support of a film of the fantastic genre that is one of the first in the world, in its latest restoration, still astonishing in terms of the number of extras, actors, visual and crafted special effects, inspired by Gustave Doré's illustrations but always faithful to Dante's lyric poetry, its universal message and its moving thirst for knowledge.
An experiment, applauded in historic auditoriums such as the Sala Puccini of the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan, the Church of Santa Margherita in Piacenza (the current Auditorium Piacenza and Vigevano), the Teatro di Documenti in Rome and then again in Bolzano, Varese, and Potenza.
The music for the CD was recorded live in Varese (Teatro Nuovo - November 2021):
AN OFFICIAL AND INTEGRAL VIDEO was shot in Piacenza (May 2023) and is at this link in its entirety (with the participation of Alessandro Bazzoli on drums and percussion): www.youtube.com/watch?v=grvZ5Icy6N8
On 25 April, the show will be published in CD form with an accurate booklet/vinyl/digital + Qr-code to download the video representing it.
On the following 27th, there will be a repeat performance in honour of the publication, at the Teatro Sociale in Stradella (PV), defined as: 'A theatre risen as if by enchantment and of an elegance that never had its equal' (September 1846).

The 180 gram vinyl of the album, structured as a double suite of shorter duration, will contain a poster and will be pressed in only 100 autographed copies.

the design is by Andrea Baltera.
Executive production is by Snowdonia,
artistic production by I Sincopatici, Claudio Milano and Paolo Siconolfi.
The Trio I Sincopatici (Francesca Badalini, Andrea Grumelli, Luca Casiraghi) is mainly dedicated to the rediscovery of silent film masterpieces with live musical accompaniment and, more generally, to projects focusing on the relationship between music and images. The music is conceived for each film by composer and pianist Francesca Badalini, who has been collaborating with the Cineteca Italiana since 1999, composing and performing live music for silent films throughout Europe, and subsequently reworked by the entire group. The Sincopatici propose a highly emotional and intense form of performance, the Cineconcerto, in which the evocative power of the images of silent film masterpieces is combined with the strong suggestion created by music ranging from improvisation to rock and classical music.
